Texas LNG Export Plant Part of U.S. Expansion Plans by Qatar Petroleum, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Qatar Petroleum plans to invest about $20 billion in the U.S. as the company seeks to increase its overseas oil and gas business. As such, Qatar Petroleum and Exxon Mobil Corporation have announced they are proceeding with a $10 billion joint venture project to construct the Golden Pass LNG liquefaction and export plant in Sabine Pass, Texas. Construction is expected to begin in early 2019. The three-train project ultimately will have a production capacity of about 16 million tons of LNG. The plant initially will have a capacity of 5.2 million tons of LNG per year after it starts up the first train in 2024.
