Iraq Refining to Invest in Increased Refining Capacity, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Iraq's crude refining capacity stands at 952,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) via 16 operational refineries. This is expected to increase by 70,000 BBL/d by September. With increasing demand for refined products, Iraq plans to increase its crude refining capacity by adding 380,000 BBL/d with the commissioning of the Karbala Refinery and the rehabilitation of Baiji and Salahudin 1 refineries by 2020. Iraq expects to invest $12 billion to increase its refining capacity to more than 2 million BBL/d by 2024.
