Indonesia's PT PLN Could Eliminate Renewable Energy Projects, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Indonesia

Indonesia's state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN) is considering eliminating 24 renewable energy projects that are supposed to be developed by private investors. The failure to secure financial closure is the primary cause of the proposed elimination.

The projects that may be eliminated have a combined capacity of 324.12 megawatts (MW) and include 19 mini hydro power plants with combined capacity of 105.12 MW, one hydro power plant with a capacity of 200 MW, and four bio-energy and waste-to-energy power plants with combined capacity of 19 MW. PT PLN gave a deadline until June this year for these projects to secure financing.
