Despite the drive in other parts of the world to move away from fossil fuels, especially coal, and increased pressure to invest in renewable energy, countries in Eastern European still spend heavily on coal-fired power generation. Much of the investment is needed to maintain existing plants.
Industrial Info is tracking $25 billion in coal-fired project activity in the region. Poland leads with $12.8 billion, followed by Ukraine, with $7.8 billion.
