U.K.'s Power Grid Runs Two Weeks Without Coal, an Industrial Info Market Brief
The U.K.'s national grid operator announced that the country's power system was run without the use of coal-fired power for a record two weeks. At the moment, renewables are providing one-third of the country's electricity, and this is to be increased. Industrial Info is tracking 663 operational plants fueled by renewables and 94 by fossil fuels. There is a further $39 billion in spending planned for construction of renewable energy power plants.
