The low cost of natural gas in the Middle East makes the construction of export-oriented fertilizer plants very attractive. The Middle East is one of the largest producers of nitrogen-based fertilizers in the world, and companies continue to invest in various fertilizer projects.
Industrial info is tracking investments of more than $28 billion planned for 82 capital fertilizer projects in the region. Click here for a list. In spite of economic challenges and sanctions, Iran holds the top position, with investments of more than $8.3 billion for 30 projects, followed by Egypt with 27 projects worth more than $6 billion.
