New Wells Drilled in Gulf of Mexico, an Industrial Info Market Brief

In the Gulf of Mexico as of June 2019, four new development wells are being drilled by Arena Offshore, LP (The Woodlands, Texas), BP Exploration and Production Incorporated (London, England), Renaissance Offshore LLC (Houston, Texas) and Hess Corporation (New York, New York). Three new exploration wells owned by Chevron USA (San Ramon, California), Fieldwood Energy LLC (Houston), and LLOG Exploration Offshore (Houston) also have started drilling. In total, the four new development and three exploration wells are down from eight and six, respectively, in May. The average development well was 2,616 feet deep, while the average exploration well was 4,348 feet deep. See graph for drilling activity in 2018 and 2019.
