India's Food Processing Sector Sees Drop in Direct Foreign Investments, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Foreign direct investments in India's food processing sector decreased by 31% in 2018-19 to $628.24 million as compared with $904.90 million in 2017-18. Even so, the food processing sector is seeing annual growth of more than 11%. Despite a huge domestic market encompassing 1.3 billion customers, and an abundant agricultural base, the food processing levels in India remain low at 7.7% behind several economies such as China, Malaysia and the U.S., according to India's ministry data.
