The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), a group of leading research-based pharmaceutical companies in India, has urged the government's policy think tank NITI Ayog and the Department of Pharmaceuticals to set aside a substantial fund to boost technological innovation in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
In its recent report Indian Pharmaceutical Industry: The Way Forward - Vision 2030, IPA predicted that India would have a 7% share in the global drug market by 2030, if it can launch three to five new molecular entities and 10 to 12 incremental innovation initiatives per year through the next decade.
