Sasol Gives Update on Lake Charles Chemical Project, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Sasol has released a statement regarding the production and construction status of its new chemical complex in Westlake, Louisiana. Sasol announced that the 3.3 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit, which began production in July 2019, is currently operating at approximately 50% of capacity.
Additionally, the startup of the 926 million-pound-per-year low-density polyethylene and alcohols units that have been under construction since 2015 are now expected to become operational in late 2019 through early 2020, being delayed from the previous startup timeframe of late this summer. These units are part of a larger world-scale complex known as the Lake Charles Chemical Project, or LCCP. Industrial Info is carefully monitoring these projects closely for continued updates.
