U.S. Gas Resource Base Soars, Thanks to Shale Formations

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS--September 19, 2019--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. had a natural gas resource base of 3,374 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas at yearend 2018, an increase of 20%, or about 557 Tcf, over the resource base at yearend 2016, the Potential Gas Committee (PGC) (Golden, Colorado) said September 11 in its biennial report. U.S. natural gas use is about 30 Tcf per year, giving the country a gas supply exceeding 100 years.
