PT PLN (Persero) to Export 600 Megawatts of Electricity to Malaysia in Coming Years, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Indonesia's PT PLN (Persero) will export 600 megawatts of electricity to Peninsular Malaysia in the next decade. PT PLN (Persero) and Malaysia's Tenaga Nasional Berhad agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to further collaborate in conducting interconnection studies, including a review of project viability, technology and design selection, realistic schedule selection, modeling business schemes, financing, related studies legal and regulatory issues.
It is also possible to form a joint venture corporation appointed by the two parties as the developer and controller of interconnection projects, as well as managing the assets, ranging from converters, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and submarine cable HVDC. It is hoped an interconnection can play a role as a link for the two systems as a step toward the formation of the ASEAN power grid in the future.
