Australia Bushfires Pose Potential Threat to Mining Operations
Attachment: Australia
The massive bushfires occurring across Australia are now a potential threat to mining operations. New South Wales is the worst-hit state, with more than 130 fires burning across the state. Centennial Coal has temporarily ceased production of coal at its Springvale Coal Mine, as well as the Clarence Coal Mine, due to bushfire smoke entering the mines via the ventilation systems. Approximately 100 workers were evacuated from SIMEC Australia's Tahmoor coking coal mine due to the fire threat.
