The Egyptian cabinet has issued mining law regulations that would relieve mining companies from requirements to form joint ventures with the Egyptian government and rein in stiff state royalties and profit-sharing arrangements. Egypt is hoping the change will lead to an increase in gold production, according to Reuters.
