U.S. Defense Department Injects $100 Million to Secure Medtech, Pharma Manufacturing, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Utilizing $100 million authorized under the CARES Act, the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has launched a request for proposals from companies seeking funding. Eligible projects should help reshore production--or strengthen related domestic supply chains--of personal protective equipment, medical testing supplies, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, ventilation equipment or relevant ancillary materials and technologies.
"As detailed in our CARES Act spend plan, we will utilize the $100 million to provide a subsidy for multiple federal loans to create, maintain, protect, expand or restore domestic industrial base capabilities to support (the) national COVID-19 response," according to Ellen Lord, DOD undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment.
