Latin American Ports Maintain Strong Response to COVID-19, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Latin American ports continue to apply measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Ecuador, the Port Authority of Manta applied COVID-19 tests to its servers as part of its emergency health protocol.

In Brazil, the Port of Itajaí distributed the drug Ivermectin to city residents. The drug is seen as a potential inhibitor of the COVID-19 virus. Likewise, the Companhia Docas do Estado da Bahia (Codeba) carried out a second stage of vaccinations against influenza A and B, measles, mumps and rubella (SCR) for workers in the Port of Salvador.

Ports of the region also have increased aid and donation initiatives. In Peru, the Paracas Port Terminal (TPParacas) inaugurated an oxygen plant at the Hospital of San Juan de Dios for the care of patients with COVID-19. The ports of Paita, Paracas and Salaverry have allocated more than $1 million for initiatives with the aim of mitigating the impact of the virus.
