Adani's Mundra Port Emerges as Busiest Port of India, an Industrial Info Market Brief

The Port of Mundra has bragging rights as the busiest port in India for the most recent fiscal quarter. The port handled 970,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the first quarter of fiscal year 2021, overtaking Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), which handled 850,000 TEU, according to Adani Ports' financial results. The first quarter ended on June 30.
JNPT has long been the country's busiest port, with an average annual volume of 5 million TEUs a year, whereas Mundra Port handles an average of 4.4 million TEUs a year.
Industrial Info is tracking 29 Industrial Manufacturing projects worth $2.86 billion at Mundra Port and JNPT, with 18 projects in the planning phases, five in engineering and six under construction.
