In 2018, Colombia had less than 50 megawatts (MW) of operational wind and solar photovoltaic generation capacity. Only two years later, the installed capacity has climbed to more than 150 MW, and there are nearly $15 billion in active solar and wind projects, including 291 MW of new-build capacity under construction, 469 MW in the late engineering phase and more than 8.8 gigawatts (GW) in the planning stages.
