Essar Oil U.K. has announced the development of a low-carbon hydrogen project at its Stanlow Refinery, U.K., as part of the HyNet North West Project to reduce carbon emissions. This includes conversion of the refinery's combined heat and power (CHP) plant from natural gas to hydrogen, the construction of a new low-carbon hydrogen unit to provide the required hydrogen, and the U.K.'s first carbon capture and storage plant. Project completion is currently expected for late 2024.
