SUGAR LAND--August 6, 2021--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Lockdowns and other responses to the COVID-19 pandemic clobbered U.S. petroleum consumption in 2020, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The decline was driven by a 14% drop from 2019 in motor gasoline consumption to 8 million barrels per day (BBL/d)--the lowest level since 1997.
