Major Green Hydrogen Hub in Utah Gets DOE Loan

June 13, 2022--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Advanced Clean Energy Storage (ACES) hydrogen hub in Utah has received a $504.4 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The clean energy loan is the first of its kind since 2014.

The ACES hub will provide hydrogen feedstock to the Intermountain Power Agency's (South Jordan, Utah) new combined-cycle plant, which will replace its existing coal-fired plant. It initially will be powered by a mix of 30% green hydrogen and 70% natural gas starting in 2025--increasing to 100% green hydrogen by 2045.
