Oil Search to Add Solar to Biomass-Fired Power Plant in Papua New Guinea, an Industrial Info Market Brief
Oil Search is progressing with the development of a biomass project in Markham Valley of Papua New Guinea with the proposal to add solar energy to the existing plan. The project will consist of a 30-megawatt (MW) biomass power plant that will be fed by fuel supply from 16,000 hectares of sustainable, certified and dedicated tree plantations. With the addition of an 11-MW solar farm, the plant is set to become the first utility scale renewable biomass and solar power generation project in Papua New Guinea.
