Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Puget Sound Energy has completed Phase II of the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility. Wild Horse Windfarm is located in Kittitas County, Washington, approximately 16 miles east of Ellensburg. This windfarm was brought online in late 2006 with 127 wind turbines and a nameplate capacity of 229 megawatts (MW).
The Wild Horse solar array consists of 2,408 solar panels. These panels generate 500 kilowatts. The technology used is called "photovoltaic." These photovoltaic panels convert energy from the sun's rays to electricity. Wild Horse is considering expanding the solar array by another 300 photovoltaic solar panels.
