Mexico's CFE Releases Bid Documents for Central Termoeléctrica José López Portillo Major Maintenance Works

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--On August 5, Mexican state-owned utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) (Mexico City) released documents for six bidding processes for services, equipment and materials to be performed on Unit 3 at Central Termoeléctrica José López Portillo (Coahuila State), beginning in September this year.

Unit 3 consists of a Babcock-Hitachi pulverized coal steam generator, which will drive a 300-megawatts (MW) Mitsubishi steam turbine generator set and electrostatic precipitator. Maintenance will last 60 days beginning September 21 and will involve the main equipment, corresponding auxiliary equipment and the electrostatic precipitator.

CFE bid for the following maintenance works:

• Civil maintenance of main and auxiliary equipment, with closure date on August 24
• Maintenance of the steam generator and auxiliary equipment, to be closed August 23
• Maintenance on the boiler's high-pressure components, to be closed August 22
• Maintenance on the ESP, to be closed August 22
• Provision and installation of ceramic tiles, to be closed August 24

Electromechanical maintenance on the steam turbine generator set will be performed by CFE 's maintenance staff.
