Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The generator stator manufactured by Shanghai Electrical Corporation (Shanghai) for Unit 1 of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation's (CGNPC) (Shenzhen) Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station was shipped to the heavy piece berth of Fangchanggang port and erected onto its final position on March 1, 2013. The project has achieved its first Class I milestone for 2013, according to an announcement from the CGNPC on March 6.
As reported, the generator stator, weighting more than 510 metric tons, is the heaviest single piece of equipment in the Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station. Completion of the stator erection means that the generator erection of Unit 1 has been fully kicked off.
The Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station, located at Hongxing Village, Guangpo Town, Gangkou District of Fangchenggang City, in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is the first nuclear power station built in the minority region of China, and one of the 23 key projects listed in the "West Development Program" launched by the Chinese government. The project has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt (MW) nuclear power units; of which, two 1,080-MW nuclear power units, based on China's improved pressurized water reactor, are planned to be built in Phase I with a total estimated investment of $3.53 billion. The project is jointly invested by the CGNPC and Guangxi Investment Group Company (Nanning, Guangxi), an investment company under the control of the government of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
The Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Phase I Project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on July 15, 2010. Construction of the project officially kicked off in late July 2010. Presently, various erection works in the nuclear island of Unit 1 are progressing steadily, and the circular crane for the nuclear island of Unit 2 is under electrical testing. According to the schedule, both units of the project are expected to begin commercial operations in 2015.
