Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--At 1,954 square miles, Delaware is the second smallest state in the nation; however, the state is lining up some big industrial projects. As part of the North American Industrial Project Database, Industrial Info is monitoring 63 major capital and maintenance projects representing more than $1.7 billion across 12 vertical industries in Delaware. The Power Industry accounts for 78% of the total value of industrial projects planned in Delaware, led by two large wind power projects that are planned off of Delaware's coast. Bluewater Wind LLC (Newark, Delaware) and Winergy LLC (Hauppauge, New York) are both planning investments in wind power totaling $1 billion in Delaware.

Valero Refining Company (NYSE:VLO) (San Antonio, Texas) is planning a number of projects at its refinery in Delaware City, Delaware. Earlier this year the company began construction on a $50 million project to upgrade petroleum coke handling and storage at the refinery. Dean Oliver International (Tucker, Georgia) is providing engineering and procurement services for the projects, which is scheduled for completion in September 2009.
Kraft Foods Incorporated (NYSE:KFT) (Northfield, Illinois) is constructing a $40 million expansion at its plant in Dover, Delaware.
