Feasibility Study Report Approved for Hongping Pump-Storage Power Station in Jiangxi Province

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A feasibility study report for the Hongping pump-storage power station to be located in Jiangxi Province's Jing'an County was approved this month, China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Corporation announced on May 16, 2008. The power station will be next to the Jiangxi grid's load center. The station currently has a total planned capacity of 2,400 megawatts (MW) to be built in phases. Phase I will cost about $570 million and make up about 1,200 MW of the capacity.

The station comprises an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, water diversion and power system, as well as the surface substation. The station's main function will be for peak and frequency regulation and emergency backup.

The East China Investigation and Design Institute started the feasibility study for the station in 2003 and completed feasibility study report in March 2008.
