Sugarcane will be processed at the facility. Initially, 1 million tons of the feedstock will be crushed to produce 60 million liters of fuel ethanol. The facility will undergo two expansion phases to reach a processing of 3.2 million tons of sugarcane by 2013, when the plant will produce 90 million liters of fuel ethanol, 180,000 tons of sugar, and 56 megawatts of electric power.
Construction is expected to resume in October 2010, and the plant is scheduled to become operational in June 2011. The required investment is estimated to be $220 million. Infinity Bio-Energy owns and operates five other sugarcane processing facilities in Brazil.
