Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which has many applications in sectors ranging from health care and electronics to construction, has seen a boost in demand, especially with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. PVC demand is expected to remain strong, and producers are planning to invest in expanding existing production sites.
Mexichem, a PVC producer, is planning to expand the production capacity of its plants in Altamira, Mexico, and Cartagena, Colombia, to try and attend this growth in demand. The projects will increase the capacity of the plants by 50%. The project in Mexico was placed on hold in 2019, but was reactivated due to the burgeoning market.
