Petrobras Bolivia to Construct Third Dew Point Plant in Tarija

Español
Researched by Industrial Info Research Latin America (Córdoba, Argentina)--Petrobras Bolivia (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), a subsidiary of Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), has announced its investment plan for 2012, which includes the implementation of a number of exploration and production projects in the country. Petrobras Bolivia operates the major gas fields in Bolivia: San Alberto, San Antonio (also known as Sabalo), and the recently inaugurated Itau natural gas field, all of which are located in the southern Bolivian Region of Tarija.

The Itau gas field well started operating in February 2011 with a production capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters per day (MSCMD), which is processed at the San Alberto Natural Gas Processing Plant, besides Itau´s own production wells. Due to the company´s production increase program, a new dew point gas processing plant is going to be build in Itau, which has a planned processing capacity of 5.6 MSCMD.

In December 2010, Exterran Holdings Incorporated (NYSE:EXH) was selected as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company to develop the facility. The planned startup date of the project is the third quarter of 2013. Although at present the undertaking is planned to be developed in only one phase, it will include additional drillings apart from the two 5,300-meter-deep wells currently under construction, which would be starting production in July this year.

Petrobras Bolivia is also responsible of the exploration of two blocks and the reactivation of the Bermejo field, in Arce province. These developments show the goals for expansion and growth that Petrobras Bolivia has set.
