Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The University of Louisville (Louisville, Kentucky) Health Sciences campus (Plant 1061060) is entering the research major leagues with a multitude of big-ticket construction projects. Earlier this summer, the 131,000 square foot Delia B. Baxter Biomedical Research Building was completed. The $41 million five-story building, also known as Baxter II, will house different research teams with varying fields of study, on each floor. The new building's design was kept in sync with the existing Donald E. Baxter Biomedical Research Building, or Baxter I, to which it is connected by a basement walkway.
Arrasmith Judd Rapp Chovan Incorporated (Louisville, Kentucky) designed Baxter II and Messer Construction Company (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the project's general contractor.
Two other large research-orientated projects currently being evaluated for the campus are the $98 million Health Science Center Research Facility Phase III (PEC 23001554) and the $25 million Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (PEC 23001565). Both projects are tentatively scheduled to start construction in 2004.
