But Canada's miners faced an additional challenge earlier this month, when western ports were shut down amid strikes that since have ended.

Artemis Gold Incorporated temporarily reduced the number of non-essential staff and contractors earlier this month at one of its facilities, while Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) acknowledged gold production had decreased "primarily due to wildfire-related road closures." Patriot Battery Metals Incorporated and Nutrien Limited (NYSE:NTR) also have been affected.
