Tropical Depression Cristobal Approaches Gulf of Mexico, a Weather Impact Update by Industrial Info
RELEASED 05-JUN-2020

Tropical Depression Cristobal

Cristobal decreased in strength to a tropical depression overnight and is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico by Friday of this week. Forecasters expect this storm to cross the gulf and reach U.S. shores as a tropical storm--or even a hurricane--over the weekend. Industrial Info has confirmed two platforms have been taken offline, with an additional platform planned to be taken offline tomorrow out of an abundance of caution. Most oil and gas companies continue to monitor the storm closely and are entering a "preparedness mode," which enables them to reduce offshore staffing quickly as needed.

A storm surge from Cristobal is likely to begin impacting the coast from Louisiana to eastern Florida by Saturday, based on the latest forecast. The track of this storm is unpredictable, with landfall ranging from the eastern shoreline of Texas to west of New Orleans. Check for updates with Industrial Info's Disaster Impact Tracker, including the storm's current trajectory and potential impact to industrial operations.
