World Bank Loan Supports Egypt as it Targets $17.6 Billion Power Spend Through 2017

Egypt has secured a $505 million loan from the World Bank to support the setting up of the 1,950 megawatt (MW) Helwan South power station, which will require an investment of $1.785 billion. The country's minister of electricity and energy, Ahmed Imam, reports that the overall funding required for power projects through 2017 is over $17.6 billion.
