NIPSCO May Close Four Coal Units to Slash Environmental Compliance Tab
SUGAR LAND--September 27, 2016--Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) (Merrillville, Indiana), an electric utility unit of NiSource Incorporated (NYSE:NI) (Merrillville, Indiana), is considering closing four of its seven coal-fired generating units as part of its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), the company said late last month. NIPSCO officials emphasized that no final decision has been made yet, but a recommendation on those units will be part of the IRP the utility files with Indiana utility regulators November 1.
