Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--EPIC Midstream Holdings LP (San Antonio, Texas) has been quietly making progress on a series of projects across Texas that will boost the company's presence in an increasingly competitive market for crude oil and natural gas liquid (NGL) distribution. Industrial Info is tracking more than $3.5 billion in active projects involving EPIC, about $2.7 billion of which is under construction and slated for completion sometime this year.

EPIC expects to finish construction on its most ambitious projects toward the end of the first quarter: the EPIC Crude Oil Pipeline, which will carry 600,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) from Orla, Texas, in the heart of the Permian Basin, to the company's export terminal near Corpus Christi, on the Texas Gulf Coast. Among the phases set to wrap up in March are the $350 million spreads 1 and 3, running 235 miles; the $375 million Spread 2, running 215 miles; and the $450 million spreads 4 and 5, running 280 miles.

The company expects the line's capacity eventually will expand to 900,000 BBL/d. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on spreads 1 and 3, Spreads 2 and spreads 4 and 5.

The EPIC Crude Oil Pipeline will source oil from origin points in the Permian and Eagle Ford shale plays. These correspond to a series of crude oil and condensate terminals, each valued at $15 million, near the Permian-based cities of: En route to Corpus Christi, the pipeline will be serviced by: EPIC also is making progress on its distribution system for NGL. The company expects to finish construction on its $800 million NGL Fractionation Plant near Corpus Christi this summer, when it will be able to process 100,000 BBL/d of NGL supplied via a pipeline that was completed in January. The pipeline, which sources from the Permian and Eagle Ford shale plays, has been used in the meantime to ship crude oil to the Gulf Coast.

EPIC expects to begin construction on an $800 million second train at the NGL Fractionation Plant that would add 150,000 BBL/d of capacity. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports for Train 1 and Train 2.

Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV), a joint venture between Exxon Mobil and SABIC, is partnering with EPIC to build an estimated $200 million of ethane and ethylene pipelines, running more than 130 miles in total, to support GCGV's steam cracker under construction in San Patricio County, Texas. The two lines will transport ethane to the cracker from EPIC's fractionator near Corpus Christi, and deliver ethylene from the cracker to Markham, Texas. Both are expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2020.

The ethane line will be serviced by a $20 million pump station near Robstown, also under construction and on the same schedule. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the pipeline and pump station.
