Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Founded in 1870, Gilbane Building Company (Providence, Rhode Island) has become one of the leading construction firms in the U.S. Industrial Info is tracking projects valued at more than $28 billion involving the company. The projects cover a range of sectors, from airports to pharmaceutical-biotech plants.
Easily among Gilbane's largest projects are those involving the construction of new computer-processor and semiconductor fabs at Intel Corporation's (NASDAQ:INTC) (Santa Clara, California) campus in New Albany, Ohio, where Gilbane is providing construction management services. The projects involve construction of two fabs, totaling more than 2 million square feet and including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms.
Excavation work led by Gilbane began in July. Bechtel Corporation (Reston, Virginia) is providing general engineering, construction and procurement services. This project also got underway in 2019 and is expected to be completed in the coming months. Subscribers can click here for the project report.
Gilbane also has several pharmaceutical and biotech projects in its portfolio. Last year, Gilbane began work on one of its biggest pharma projects for Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) (Indianapolis, Indiana) in Concord, North Carolina, at a former Philip Morris site. The project includes constructing five buildings, totaling 800,000 square feet, that will include a biologic manufacturing facility, including fill/finish capabilities, along with space for warehousing, packaging, a quality control lab and a central utilities plant. Construction began late last year and is expected to take about three years. Subscribers to Industrial Info's GMI Pharma-Biotech Project Database can click here for the full report.
