Pakistan Reaffirms 60% Renewable Energy Target by 2030

Pakistan reaffirmed its goal of generating 60% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030

Released on Monday, November 03, 2025
Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Pakistan has set its sights on a cleaner, brighter future by reaffirming its goal of generating 60% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The vision places regional cooperation at the heart of the transition, recognizing that shared challenges can become shared opportunities for sustainable growth, energy security and climate resilience. The launch of the ECO Clean Energy Centre (CECECO) marks a powerful step in building this collective future.

The country is already moving rapidly along this path. Over 42% of grid-connected capacity now comes from renewables, and more than half of the electricity generated last year was clean energy. With 35% of installed capacity from utility-scale renewables and 5.8 gigawatts (GW) of solar power added through homes and businesses, Pakistan is demonstrating how innovation and community participation can accelerate the shift to clean energy.

Looking ahead, nearly all new power projects are based on renewable technologies, supported by policies that encourage private investment, decentralized systems, and rural electrification. Through CECECO, Pakistan and its partners are laying the groundwork for a resilient, low-carbon energy future.
