Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--AGC Vinythai's (Rayong, Thailand) expansion projects across its two sites in Rayong--Sakura and RCA-5--have started commercial operation. The expansion projects increase the annual production capacities for caustic soda to 940,000 tons per year (T/yr), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to 850,000 T/yr, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) to 400,000 T/yr and chlorine gas to 193,200 T/yr.
PVC and caustic soda are commodities that support major industrial and development sectors in Southeast Asia, including the construction, packaging, automotive, pulp and paper, and textile industries, among others.
According to AGC, demand for caustic soda and PVC in Southeast Asia is seeing 4% growth per year. AGC Vinythai's caustic soda expansion will capture growing demand and solidify its position in the chlor-alkali business. Also, aligning with Thailand's sustainability goals, the company has introduced new technologies to enhance production and energy efficiencies that reduce carbon footprint of its production units.
