ExxonMobil, on May 21, shut down its 500,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after experiencing a loss of steam from a third-party provider. At this time, the steam issues are resolved and restart procedures are underway. The facility anticipates returning to normal operations over the next 48 to 72 hours.

Taiyo Oil Company Limited, on May 21, began a planned turnaround of the 32,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) 2 at its 138,000-BBL/d Shikoku Refinery in Japan. The restart is expected by August 4. Meanwhile the 106,000-BBL/d CDU 1, 30,000-BBL/d Condensate Splitter and 32,000 b/d Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) Unit are under a planned shutdown and expected to restart August 2, August 6, and August 10, respectively.
Eni Spa continues with a planned plant-wide maintenance turnaround at its 113,200-BBL/d Livorno Refinery in Italy. The turnaround began in April, and the plant is expected to resume normal operations by early June.
North Refineries Company (NRC) continues with a 30-day planned maintenance turnaround of six units at its 56,000-BBL/d Kirkuk Refinery One in Iraq. The turnaround was moved up to begin May 18, and the restart is expected by June 16.
