SJC Bioenergia, a joint venture between Cargill and Grupo São João, has recently recorded its highest-ever production levels for July despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has severely affected the ethanol sector in Brazil. Having crushed a total of 1,265,077 tons of sugarcane and generating 90,479 megawatts (MW) of energy during July, this year´s harvest season is set to be the company´s best-ever performance on record.
Usina Rio Dourado in Cachoeira Dourada managed to crush 494,488 tons of sugarcane in July while producing 40.33 million liters of ethanol and 31,255 MW. By comparison, Usina São Francisco in Quirinopolis processed 770,589 tons of cane and produced 28.36 million liters of ethanol and 59,224 MW.
The company has attributed these record production levels to new innovative software that maintains the stability of the milling process and the efficiency of the extraction in addition to applying a verticalization of the industrial process.
