The French government has launched a national hydrogen strategy with a target of building 6.5 gigawatts (GW) of carbon-free hydrogen generation capacity by 2030. The strategy would require an estimated investment of about 7.2 billion euros (US$8.5 billion). The government's focus would be to first de-carbonize the industry by scaling up the use of renewables-powered electrolyzers that produce hydrogen.
