The plant will enable the company to expand its existing manufacturing capacity in the area to 6 gigawatts.

First Solar invested $175 million to retool its original Perrysburg plant in 2017, and $400 million on a grassroot plant in 2018. The new plant is expected to cost $680 million, according to the company.
