Jacobs Boosts Backlog with Solar, T&D, Data Center Projects

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) titan is managing all ground operations for NASA's first Artemis mission, which launched a rocket last week to fly around the moon and back to Earth. On terra firma, Jacobs is continuing to develop its role in the energy transition and cybersecurity markets.
Industrial Info is tracking more than $145 billion worth of projects worldwide involving Jacobs, more than half of which is attributed to projects under construction. Jacobs' project backlog increased from about $26.6 billion to $27.9 billion, which the company says was fueled largely by global climate and infrastructure initiatives, supply-chain modernizations, and national-security priorities. This summer, Jacobs was among the companies that broke ground on a $300 million data center in Columbus, Ohio. Google aims to boost regional support for the web-browsing service through a series of projects in Ohio.
Jacobs also is involved in about $2.8 billion worth of data-center projects for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), and other projects for NextEra Energy Incorporated (NYSE:NEE) and FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE).
