Design Contracts Awarded for Heavy Construction Equipment Manufacturing Plant in Georgia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Architectural firm Perkins & Will (Atlanta, Georgia) and engineering firm Integrated Science & Engineering (Fayetteville, Georgia) have been selected to provide design services for the $30 million first phase of a grassroot heavy construction equipment manufacturing plant to be built in Peachtree City, Georgia, for Sany Heavy Industrial Company Limited (Atlanta, Georgia). This will be the company's North American headquarters under the name Sany America Incorporated.

Phase I will consist of a 400,000-square-foot assembly/testing/training/office building on 228 acres in the Peachtree City Industrial Park. A general contractor is expected to be selected in June with construction slated to begin in August 2008. Overall completion for Phase I is expected by fall 2009. Approximately 200 people will be employed initially after the phase is completed.

Phase II, a $70 million expansion, will include additional product assembly buildings and lines, as well as corporate offices, and research and development facilities. Phase II will create 400 more jobs.

The new facility will enable Sany to assemble concrete pump trucks and stand-alone trailer-mounted concrete pumps that are used in high-rise building construction and other concrete structures. Future products will include road graders, asphalt pavers, excavators and heavy construction equipment. This will be the company's first North American facility.
