EnXco Plans for 100-Megawatt Windfarm in Indiana's Benton County

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--EnXco Incorporated (Minneapolis, Minnesota), a subsidiary of Electricite de France (EPA:EDF) (Paris), has recently gone out for bids on the 100-megawatt (MW) Hoosier Windfarm, to be located in Benton County near Fowler, Indiana.

Earlier this year, enXco and Indianapolis Power & Light (Indianapolis, Indiana) entered a 20-year power-purchase agreement. EnXco will own and operate the windfarm, and Indianapolis Power will purchase the power. EnXco has also set up Hoosier Wind Park LLC to operate the site.

The facility will include 50 2-MW wind turbine/generator sets from REpower Systems (FRA:RPW) (Hamburg, Germany). Other major components consist of steel towers, transmission lines, power converters/inverters, nacelles, electrical collection system plus auxiliary equipment.

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2009 with completion set for the end of the year.
