CRUDE OIL
Last Week, U.S. Oil Imports Were Lowest Since February 2021
- The U.S. imported the least amount of crude oil last week in nearly five years, data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed, as companies looked to dodge a hefty year-end tax on oil held in storage. U.S. crude oil imports last week fell to 4.95 million barrels per day, the lowest since February 2021, according to EIA data. (Reuters)

VENEZUELA
U.S. Issues New Sanctions Targeting Venezuelan Oil Sector
- The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on four companies it said were operating in Venezuela's oil sector as well as associated oil tankers, as President Donald Trump's administration increases pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement it imposed sanctions on oil traders engaged in sanctions evasion for Maduro's government. Among the targets were four tankers, some of which the Treasury accused of being part of the so-called "shadow fleet". (Reuters)

Saipem Wins Contract for Turkey's Largest Gas Field
- Italian engineering group Saipem (Milan) has won a US$425 million contract to continue the development of Turkey's largest offshore natural gas field, it said on Wednesday. The contract, awarded by Turkish Petroleum OTC (Istanbul, Turkey), covers the third phase of a project to develop the Sakarya field, focusing on the construction of three additional pipelines totaling around 153 kilometers (95 miies), along with related subsea structures.
