Calcasieu Refining Restarts Refinery in Lake Charles, Louisiana, After 3-Month Shutdown

The refinery was shut down in early June following a naphtha tank fire and explosion caused by a lightning strike as storms moved through. No injuries were reported.

When the fire started, the tank contained around 46,000 barrels, according to reporting from the KPLC TV news website, citing Greg Langley, spokesman for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
