Energy Market highlights gathered by Industrial Info and IIR Energy
PRODUCTION
U.S. Drillers Add Rigs - The U.S. oil and gas rig count rose two to 752 in the week to July 8, energy services firm Baker Hughes Company (NYSE:BKR) (Houston, Texas) said. U.S. oil rigs rose two to 597 this week, their highest since March 2020, while gas rigs were unchanged at 153. (Reuters)
U.S. Oil Output Slips in April - U.S. crude oil production slid in April by about 0.5% to its lowest since February, according to a monthly report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Friday. Oil production fell to about 11.6 million barrels per day (BBL/d) in April from nearly 11.7 million BBL/d the month prior, the report showed. (Reuters)
PIPELINES
Michigan Orders Information from Enbridge Regarding Line 5 Tunnel Application - Michigan regulators on Thursday ordered Canada's Enbridge Incorporated (NYSE:ENB) (Calgary, Alberta) to file additional information on safety and engineering for its proposed Line 5 oil pipeline tunnel, describing Enbridge's current application as "deficient." Enbridge is planning to build a tunnel beneath the Straits of Mackinac in the Great Lakes to rehouse its existing 540,000-BBL/d Line 5 pipeline. The decision is a setback for Enbridge, which has proposed building the $750 million tunnel to address concerns that Line 5 could spill into the Great Lakes.
