Deer Park Refining, on July 19, restarted the 67,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) SHCU (Hydrocracker) and 70,000-BBL/d Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) at its 340,000-BBL/d refinery in Deer Park, Texas, after shutting them down on July 16.
Valero, on July 19, restarted the 18,000-BBL/d delayed coker, and on July 18, the 110,000-BBL/d crude oil unit, at its 220,000-BBL/d Bill Greehey Refining Complex East Side in Corpus Christi, Texas. Both units were shut down on July 13 due to a mechanical issue.
CITGO Petroleum, today, July 21, restarted the Lone Crude and 80,000-BBL/d Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) on the East Side of its 165,000-BBL/d Corpus Christi, Texas, refining complex, after shutting them down for planned maintenance on July 9. Separately, the 69,000-BBL/d FCCU 2, which was shut down on June 18, is expected to restart within the next 24 to 48 hours.
International
PDVSA continues to run its 295,000-BBL/d Cardon, Venezuela, refinery at lower rates as the 75,000-BBL/d Crude 1, 75,000-BBL/d Crude 2 and 51,000-BBL/d Reformer (Platformer), and associated units, are online. Meanwhile, the 70,000-BBL/d Crude 3, 75,000-BBL/d Crude 4 and 77,000-BBL/d FCCU are offline. Planned repairs on the FCCU are underway, and PDVSA plans to complete the mechanical portion of the turnaround by late August, with the unit back online by September 7.
Viva Energy Australia Limited (VEA) is carrying over a 45-day planned turnaround of the 5,000-BBL/d Hydrofluoric Alkylation (HF Alky) Unit, from 2020, at its 120,000-BBL/d Geelong, Australia, refinery, due to COVID-19's effect on economics. Maintenance work begins on July 21, and the unit is expected to restart by September 3.
Rompetrol Rafinare SA has shut down its 105,000-BBL/d Petromidia Refinery in Romania after completing a damage assessment following an explosion on July 2 that left the 18,400-BBL/d Diesel Hydrotreater unit with 70% damage. The entire refinery is expected to be shut down until the end of September, with an option to prolong the shutdown.
